When we are in New York City, Tyler and I have our go-to restaurants like our beloved Nobu, but this time we decided to explore some uncharted territory! I reached out to my best friend, New Yorker, & MOH—Abby, and she recommended two EXQUISITE restaurants: The Waverly Inn + The Beatrice Inn
First, we made our way to the West Village for our reservations at The Waverly Inn. The atmosphere in this sweet, romantic restaurant is PERFECT for a date night with your sweetheart! From the darling patio with foliage, to the fireplace, this place feels like a little peace of European heaven in the middle of New York City. Tyler started us off with a bottle of their cabernet and Jonah crab cakes to share. For our entrees I ordered our waiter’s suggestion of the Chicken Pot Pie and boy, am I glad I did! We have learned to overlook steak unless we are at a steakhouse or Nobu; it only ends up letting us down. So, Tyler chose their oven-roasted halibut and it absolutely did not disappoint. For his sides, he got english peas, and of course, creamed spinach, because he can never pass up that side dish. We ended the night like we usually do: split a small bowl of vanilla ice cream to satisfy our craving for a sweet treat.
Considering Abby nailed her first recommendation, we obviously had to see what her second recommendation was! The Beatrice Inn, also located in the West Village, is more chic than boutique. The combination of dark wood and rich leather set the mood for a cozy, quiet time for Tyler and I to slow down our fast-paced lives. The intimate setting truly makes you feel like you’re the only two people in the room, even though Keanu Reeves was just a couple tables over. It was nice to not be the ones getting what I like to call, the “googly eyes,” for once! All eyes were on their table and not Tyler, which really gave us a 100% date night!
Our two new favorite Inns are both so charming and have officially been added to our “NYC must haves!” Next time you hit up the big apple, be sure to reserve tables at The Waverly Inn, and The Beatrice Inn; they have the future-Hubbard’s seal of approval!
