Our stay at Qualia Resort was absolutely heavenly! Located on Hamilton Island of the Whitsunday Islands in Queensland, Australia, our private pavilion sat on a tropical hillside looking over the breathtaking views of the Coral Sea. Traveling with us were Aimee and Troy Grover, who have become close friends and travel buddies. Tyler and I met the Grovers/photography duo a little over a year ago, when they shot our engagement and wedding photos. Since then we’ve grown to be close friends and we enjoy taking trips together, and not to mention, they take some spectacular photos.
The trip was nothing short of extraordinary! From the views, the service, the amenities, you name it. Though none of this could be made possible if not for Katie Frederick @eahoneymoons. Katie planned our INCREDIBLE honeymoon at Amanyara, Turks & Caicos, and again, went above and beyond in planning this trip. From the resort down to the smallest details, Katie has perfectly planned each trip and always manages to add some amazing surprises to the itinerary. In the first days of our stay, she scheduled our first surprise, being an excursion via helicopter to a private picnic at Whitehaven Beach. We can’t stress enough how amazing Katie is in planning trips like these, and we have learned to trust anything she recommends us doing.
Fun Fact: We recently found out that Taylor Swift has also been a visitor to Qualia Resort recently. She treated members of her team to some R&R at this little slice of heaven.
Tyler and the Grovers joked with me upon our arrival that we would be going on a “Kanga-pouch” ride where you get in the pouch of a large Kangaroo to hop around and see the island. Maybe it was a combination of jet lag brain, a little gullibleness + wishful thinking, but I completely believed (and trusted my HUSBAND :)) thinking that this would be hands down the coolest excursion EVER, (also thinking to myself, “How did I not know about such a thing?!”) and was willing to pay whatever it took to see the island by Kangaroo. HA! Though after a brief and dreamy moment of excitement, I quickly realized the joke was on me and the only “pouch” I would be jumping around Australia in would be our personal golf carts.
Though sad that Kanga-pouch rides were not available, all of the guests received a personal golf cart to explore the island. On our first night, Troy, Aimee, Tyler and I hopped on one of the carts and scooted off to a small village for dinner. The ride was so much fun, and wildly entertaining to say the least! In addition to our wonderful rooms and accommodations, the island had so many fun activities to partake in. We signed up for yoga each morning, and we went to hold + hang out with the koalas. Did you know they sleep 20 hours a day!? Can I be a koala?? I guess it’s easy to say we fell in love with Hamilton Island… Not to mention the Aussie accent and all of the sweet locals we’ve met on our trip.
