Mother’s Day is just around the corner, but instead of sharing another list of gift ideas, I thought I would shake things up a bit. I want to share a bit of advice that was recently passed my way, and it’s a father’s advice for Mother’s Day. Read what he has to say about life as a parent, and a little secret for a priceless gift any mother would want on her special day!
A FATHER’S ADVICE ON MOTHER’S DAY
“A Little Mother’s Day Secret…OK, so maybe it’s not such a secret, but it is certainly something that I didn’t fully comprehend until my children showed up on the scene.Parenthood is a transformative event. I mean it when I say it is an event. In just a few hours your whole world changes. The love you feel for your spouse or brothers or sisters or parent is no comparison to that feeling you get when you hold your child for the first time. When your friends have children they will tell you that they don’t remember their life before they arrived. It sounds phony, but it’s true. So, why am I telling you this? Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and I can tell you for certain that cards and flowers are nice, but aren’t really necessary. What your mom REALLY enjoys is your company. They miss you when you are far away. They long to hear from you, even if it’s only for a few minutes on the phone. I know that it might not be possible for you to make the trip to see your Mom, and that is OK, she will understand. Just don’t forget to pick up the phone and call her, and tell her how much she means to you. That simple gesture means more than you know.”
